Shower Install, How To Write A Letter

a pretty equal volume calculation of the regular tetrahedron

I got a good thirty journals, and I could edit the last activity. I realized that many students have trouble seeing in space. The manufacture four tetrahedra in the yard and was able to superimpose the levy from the interior volume remained empty. Students have nodes on the edges of the octahedron and could see in particular the lines parallel to each other.
The most amusing is that I felt my first module group needed to move to this construction, while the second, warned that it could be required to make in the yard and in the cold, thought he could be so interesting to make a figure in perspective and are arrived quickly to the result.
fact remains that the calculation is a bit annoying that the volume of the tetrahedron.
Students learned the formula: Volume of a pyramid
= one third of the area of the base times the height
But in a regular tetrahedron, what height, what is the bottom? and how to calculate this? In a

session course (probably a few, prefer a group session in half), I asked three students to construct a regular tetrahedron with my journals two meters (screw eyes at the end of the journals, and to link colson ), after pointing out the number of edges at each vertex.
After two minutes, the tetrahedron was constructed.
(I did not take pictures during my course, I would have liked to have presence of mind to do so in the heat of the moment, so I just took in my backyard, it will not reflect During this lively )
Question: while the height, what is it?
A student stands up, points to the height, took the rule and attempts to measure it.
then I go out a plumb and resumed his idea by attaching it to the top so that the tip touches the ground: here is the height. We can actually measure the rule.

can also be estimated by comparing with my size, because the top comes up to me, at about 1.65mètres. As I let them move around or even in the tetrahedron, the students can get an idea based on their own size.
But is there a way to know the exact value?

And besides, where the falls plummet?
responses flowing:
- in the center of the base (which center of the triangle?)
- the center of the circle circumscribed
- the center of gravity
- the center of the inscribed circle
- the orthocenter
- at the intersection of bisectors (how to draw?)
- at the intersection bisectors (trace how exactly?)
- at the intersection of heights (trace how exactly?)
- at the intersection of the medians (how to draw?)

Who is right among all these proposals?
- the triangle is equilateral, so everyone is right.
OK, we'll draw these lines so remarkable. I marked the middle of each edge. What can we trace exactly?

Some students use strings to represent the medians.

Can you calculate the length of the median?
- yes, because there is a triangle, so we can use the Pythagorean theorem.
With what lengths?
- the median coincides with the height, so one side is 1 meter and the hypotenuse is 2 meters.
Everyone is able to calculate the median?

And the center? Where is he?
Here, I had to remember that the center of gravity is located at 2 / 3 of each center, starting from the top.

And the height?
There I got a surprise. Nobody said he could see to put on a triangle. I pulled out my bracket and I turned around the plumb line, showing that this line was perpendicular to each line of the soil, especially medians plotted. The silence has been attentive to this point showed that something was happening, and that most students did not realize this fact.
Students were then set themselves to work to calculate all values. A figure
was marked with the names of points, they have the same calculation.
Those difficulties may remain around the tetrahedron to take all necessary measures. Those who want to check their calculation can also get up to measure. This course was interesting and lively. I think the students moving around and in a volume to calculate took another consciousness and developed their vision in space, the tetrahedron is to build this and build these lines provided to students. Some very average students first took the measurements used to calculate formulas an approximate value of the volume, and then have it validated their response. I then asked them to correct all calculations, with explanations. They are then returned to a good start in the problem.

2010 Saree Blouse Ideas

activity on trisectors

Since the time that this blog is dormant, I experimented with other objects. This idea
activity m has been blown by Danielle Salles group geometry IREM de Basse Normandie : Machine trisection angles. Share

an angle into two equal angles is possible with ruler and compass, all students remember the bisector. Cut at an angle into 4 or 8 is not much more complicated and just requires some precision. But cut at any angle into three equal angles is not possible using only ruler and compass. This is an old problem, also known as construction with ruler and compass of squaring the circle and duplicating the cube.
By cons, other technical solutions, using other tools provide solutions to this problem. After this
introdution history, I suggest to my students get in groups of 3 and use the following tools, using the manual to understand how they work. Before the end of the day, students must turn on all the workshops, making the angle trisection in each case, and validated by the teacher the proper use of the object, then choose two of these objects and sketch a figure to illustrate the geometric object. The study of these figures is presented at the session next module, after we had discussed what should be a mathematical figure, as a basis for effective demonstration.

objects trisection are to:
The tomahawk (or trisector Bergeryís)
manufacturing: a board cut with a jigsaw
box camembert:
manufacturing: a curtain rod, a screw that fits into this groove.
The geometric figure is almost visible, but I do not think I could hide it.
The tee:

It should be noted that these first three tools come down to exactly the same geometric figure and same reasoning. Of the two tools that students must study, he should consider a mandatory among these three, the second choice among the three following demonstrations that lead to quite different.

Double bisector:
bars and plastic fasteners. We can operate a slot on the bars of trisector, but can also cope by superimposing two bisectors.

Inspired trisector MacLaurin found on the site Geogebra
Made mecanno bars and elastics.

With bars mécanno:
Technique: two strips revolve around a groove. The angle formed at the end by these two brackets is the third of an angle formed by the triangle built with bars mécanno.

there is also a method of trisection using bends, I did not mention, because it is a little repetition with the first trisectors.

The instructions are on this PDF

After discussing the mathematical figure of it must contain (name of points, equal in length, angles), students needed to demonstrate the operation of two of them (one of the first 3 and the last three).
The results were somewhat disappointing, although there were some very interesting ideas of ownership of the problem. Given some mistakes, I realized that having just the photo does not always suffice to make the figure. So if I start this activity very rich, I will leave these objects available to my students at the bottom of my room, so they can handle it again if they feel the need to verify some properties and they have interviews.

Excerpts Copy:
folds to represent the transformations of the triangles into the tee:

passage of drawing the figure in three stages:
Just a drawing not when it interesting

Ultimately, this work has led students to think and move, to paraphrase Ruben Rodriguez, a passage from one universe to be experienced machines to a formalized world figures, then to a world of ideas and demonstrations.

An example:

Universe experimenting with the machine between the two screws E and D, there is the same number of holes between the two screws D and C.

Universe formalized the mathematical figure:
demonstation of the Universe:
ED = DC so the triangle is isosceles D EDC.

Even if it was rewarding, even if the necessary background to the level of fourth, it was not an exercise easier for students because it requires a lot of hindsight, the more difficult, as the saying one of my very good students, there was no solution on the Internet.

ideas, so just as they are, are nothing but ideas and does have never in history by revolutionizing themselves: there are those who received met the interests of social groups large enough and powerful that gave them the strength and impact necessary to break down the strongholds of conservatism. Intellectuals have nothing else to do but to express and to circulate ideas, explain, explain it without ceasing, against bad faith, the refusal to know, caricature and hatred that does not disarm, even cons the detestable propensity of many to play with ideas as with ornaments symbolic rather than seek ways to act actually on the real. Ideas rule the world, it is understood, it is still necessary that the people involved to want to get tired to follow them.
*** The war in Algeria was in many ways a turning point, for better or for worse, well beyond the theater of military operations, turning marked by profound changes in all areas, until 'the most intimate of individuals. For some, it was not easy but lived episode from start to finish like a radical rethinking of our world, both externally and internally. I would not say that the experience was absolutely identical to the aggregate Normale philosophy of peasant béarnaise, and for its students, the teacher Kabyle Abdelmalek Sayad and "French in Algeria" (actually the son of small- 'Neapolitan immigrants) than I was. But all things considered, we must all face the same fundamental questions. The big difference is that people like Bourdieu were significantly more mentally equipped than us to address them. But they also had to manufacture their own answers - even if they had already found "structural questions of [their] own thoughts" Husserl and others, as we wrote. [...]
Sayad and I, in fact, who were probably the oldest of his students (he was only twenty-eight years, four years older than us) were both struggling, each in its own way, with thorny problems of dual culture and decommissioning. Sayad as Kabyle highly educated and assimilated; me as a "miracle" school. Both at once very close to our environment respective original and yet already to light years. Both internally torn by conflicting doubts born of a war as civil and military, that torn populations which we belong. Both rolled back and terrified by the creeping fascism of our society. We felt the vital need to see clearly, analyze, find concepts that would direct a little chaos in which plunged the country and us. This intense need to consider abandoning him to his status as a teacher Sayad me and my studies in classical literature almost completed to start all studies in philosophy that we hoped they would bring us the good adaequatio rei et intellectus our aspiration.
***
What advertising has reached fever as the School, "that is hardly surprising. It gradually became the main educational body responsible for shaping the new type of human that claimed productivism capitalist consumers, individual subjected to the despotism of his insatiable desires of the moment and the essence of which tends to reduce social power to purchase. The evolution of capitalism has lowered a degree yet, through advertising, educational level of the mass of the population. Until then, this level was the worker's manual or intellectual, whose Republican School supposedly liberating, undertook to make a semi-well-formed robot, that his membership in the company reduced its work force. It was already very far from this human model defined by the Enlightenment, that of an individual citizen, based on its ability to reflect on the free use of his reason, the exercise of rights and duties of both personal and universal. Thanks technology advertising, the capitalist system has done to all the people one more step in the alienation. Companies tended to turn into helots disciplined workers who crossed their threshold. Advertising is now to transform men and women sleepwalkers hallucinated, perpetually in the grip of consumerist illusion, which most often dedicated their lives to fantasy and frustration, sometimes to the neurosis and anti-depressants. [...]
Once again, the School did not see it coming. Under the guise of democratic access of the people supposed to know "issue of his chains," she did not know or want to see that her work had resulted in massive legitimate objective, through the distribution of cultural capital, the submission of the people to " elites already favored by the distribution of economic capital.
The same ideological blindness - that had prevented the school from the early twentieth century
e
understand how irreplaceable part she took in the social control of the working masses by the power of capital - has prevented the School the end of the century to identify under what disguise symbolic wolf, that is to say "the new spirit of capitalism", was about to enter the fold. When the working classes were still "dangerous classes," School's indoctrinating them preaching the good moral family. In a society that changes in the capitalist economy "moyennisée 'aesthetic alibi came to add to the arsenal of the legitimacy of the system. This is more in the name of the Good, the True, the Fair and Useful, but on behalf of the Beautiful, the Beautiful, sensitive to the primacy of the intelligible and the spiritual body, the immediate pleasure of delayed gratification that advertising 's has permeated all sectors of social practice, including the School. [...]
This touches the complicated relationship of complicity and resistance to both objective and to some extent involuntary, in part conscious and intentional, that the middle classes have continued to maintain the capitalist system has generated, and which they have consistently provided their collaboration while criticizing.

The media lies. Roughly as when PPDA manufactures a fake interview with Fidel Castro, or by omission when no television channel has any idea of investigating the conditions of awarding the concession to TF1 Bouygues group, nor references to Elevator between Martin Bouygues and some ... Nicolas Sarkozy.
Resuming his pilgrim's staff of media critic, Pierre Carles renewed the assault of information officers to bring them to recognize their lies, to expose their complicity with the political-economic power. As
as Carles and his double, the improbable cameraman Uruguayan Carlos Pedro, settled accounts with the dinosaurs of broadcasting, the former white knight television discovers how these leaders now know dodge, counter or digest media criticism. Fifteen years after being attacked at Canal + and have ridiculed senior information officers, he and his accomplices are brought to ask questions about the effectiveness of their methods. Have they lost the battle? Should he admit defeat? Or should we change the method and do things differently with the powerful?

Finally, What are the details? What drives us every morning to turn on the radio or television to know "what happened" during the night?
To answer these questions, the author conducted a survey of "ordinary people" of a large ensemble HLM suburb of Bordeaux. Through observations and interviews, he portrayed an intimate relationship that people develop with popular media information. News
serve not only to form his opinion as a citizen, or to justify his political stances, far from it. He is also managing his anxiety about the vagaries of an uncertain existence, to find his place in the social hierarchy and make bearable his dominance condition, manage their married life and friendly, passing on values and worldviews to his children. Take seriously the interest for news items, sports pages people but also for certain economic and social problems, to better grasp all the social functions of news. Through the comments are made in public spaces or in private, it appears that class relations are expressed acutely, with special attention to issues of justice and fairness.
Contribution to the knowledge of contemporary popular classes and their specific forms of political competence, this book suggests the diversity of uses that people can do, whatever their social background, cultural items that are private information.

Why disobey Democracy? Sandra Laugier, Albert Ogien

The reasons for revolt are not lacking. But we do not rebel anyway: in a democracy, engage in a fight against injustice, inequality or domination is a gesture that must be expressed in a form acceptable political action. Among these forms is that civil disobedience is for the citizen to refuse a non-violent, collective and public, to fulfill a legal or regulatory obligation because he considers unworthy or illegitimate, and because it it does not recognize.
This form of action is often regarded with suspicion : For some it is merely the next reaction without a conscience is not offended because it hinged on a project of political change, while others, conversely, it would put democracy at risk by making legitimate type of action whose purpose would be to end the rule of law.
This original book, written by a sociologist and a philosopher, analyzes the meaning of political disobedience, by articulating a thorough analysis of civil disobedience, which proliferate in France today - at school, to the hospital, university, business, etc.. It shows how these acts are rooted primarily in a refusal of the logic of the result and performance that is now recognized as a mode of government. At the dispossession which threatens - dispossession of his profession, his language, his voice - the citizen can then respond by disobedience, whose political acumen must be thought.
